Abstract
Indigenous peoples are the 'most researched people on the planet', yet it is only in the past two decades, or one generation of researchers, that methodologies that are emancipatory while being robust have been accepted by the academy. However, reviewing examples of indigenous models of quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods, indicate a sharing of core values. These core values are consistent with the reciprocity in indigenous cultures. A comprehensive model, the 'dilly bag' model, allows indigenous and non-indigenous peoples to research indigenous issues with cultural proficiency.
