Abstract
Use of the grounded theory research method (GTM) is increasing across many fields of inquiry. Understanding the GTM and how to apply it is therefore a key task for researchers exploring the possibility of using GTM in their research. Examination of the extant literature revealed significant problems in operationalising the GT procedures. In this paper, we take a first step in the quest for presenting a workable set of procedures for conducting GTM research by identifying difficulties encountered by researchers who have used GTM in their research and by examining ways in which they have addressed them.
